The Beginning (緣起)
Master Cheng Yen once said that education cannot wait and that education must continue. With the help of the Tzu-Chi Brisbane volunteers in 1999, the Tzu-Chi Academy Brisbane began its
recruitment of students in 2000. Tzu-Chi Academy Brisbane gives you a chance to study Chinese as well as the Silent Thoughts Aphorisms which are designed to purify our hearts and peace in our society.
Vision Statement (教育宗旨) The cultivation of compassion, modesty, joy, charity, honesty, respect, loyalty, and honesty are
the qualities which build a well personality. School students, teachers and volunteers on the basis of “ratitude, respect and love” assist the implementation of the above Tzu-Chi qualities.
Teachers and volunteers live by example to these qualities in order to provide a learning experience to the students more than just textbook education, so as to enable each student to truly
learn the Tzu-Chi qualities and thereby affect their family members and friends in a positive manner. If the students have a correct outlook on life, families have hope and the society is able to function healthily.
The Tzu-Chi Academy Brisbane is a Chinese language learning school. In order to truly learn Chinese, it is important to understand the five-thousands-years of Chinese culture. The Tzu-Chi
Academy Brisbane was begun in the hope that their children will not only be able to listen to and speak Chinese, but that they would also be able to read and write Traditional Chinese as well as learn its culture.
Tzu-Chi Academy Brisbane (學校特點) 1. Stress-free language learning
To allow students in Brisbane that are interested in learning traditional Chinese as a communication tool in the limited time, Tzu-Chi Academy Brisbane teachers use lively
teaching methods. These principles include: 1) student-centered, 2) communication base; 3) learning outcomes.
2. Silent Thoughts Aphorisms
In addition to the learning of Chinese, half an hour is set aside in each week’ lesson to the teaching of Silent Thought Aphorisms. It is important that students not only learn
the Chinese language, but also the principles of human interaction such as gratefulness and mutual respect. Through the learning of Silent Thoughts Aphorisms, every student
will be able to understand the joy in giving and in turn, help others as they have been helped.
3. Dedicated volunteers
In the rented Sunnybank State High School campus, many volunteers wearing a uniform of blue shirt and white pants, or a volunteer vest can be seen. They help
maintain the cleanliness of the school environment and ensure the safety of our students, classroom order, and stands ready to provide assistance to teachers and students where needed.
Courses (課程) We provide a mandarin phonetics class for pre-school children, primary school to the sixth
grade, middle school grades 1-3 and bilingual classes. Class size is limited to 20 people. Each year is divided into four terms, a total of 36 weeks of teaching. The class hours are on Sundays
from 9:00am to 12:30pm. Teaching stuff are experienced college graduates with much love, patience, commitment and enthusiasm for teaching. Current Situation (現況)
At present, there are 10 levels and 19 classes, including foundation level, primary-school level and middle-school level. There is also a bilingual class with no age or restrictions for students
without any Chinese background.

證嚴上人說過「孩子的教育不能等」，還有「教育要往下紮根」，鑑於此，布里斯本的慈濟人同心協力於1999年年底籌設慈濟人文 學校，2000年開始招生。台
灣移居布里斯本的鄉親子女能有機會學習中文，也藉由靜思語教學把慈濟的人文埋入孩子心田，達到淨化人心，祥和社會的目地。 |
